Abstract Nanophase B2-FeAl intermetallics was directly synthesized by room temperature ball milling and heat milling. The atomic ordering can be realized when compositional shift during milling is compensated and can be accelerated by heat milling. Fully ordered nanophase FeAl can be obtained by atomic reordering during annealing at temperatures below 500 °C, which results in no significant grain growth.
