Abstract We employ several simple numerical experiments to show that the statements that short mean path length or low heterogeneity enhances synchronizability in complex networks could be misleading. Furthermore, we point out that the impacts of the structural parameters on the synchronizability are complicated even if we could change one structural parameter independently.
