Abstract A procedure for fabricating novel TiO2 membrane material with sub-micron pores and large specific surface area from the template has been demonstrated. The morphology and structure of the membrane have been characterized by scanning electron microscopy. The results have indicated that the macroporous membrane consists of uniform hollow spheres which are interconnected to each other by ‘small windows’. Potential unique applications of this macroporous material in the fields of catalysis, optics, sensors, etc. were suggested.
