Abstract The possibility of evolving a partial degenerate solution from non-degenerate initial data in Ashtekar formalism is considered in a constructed example. It is found that this possibility could be realized in the time evolution given by Ashtekar's equations on a 3-dimensional manifold with topology R1 × S2.
