Abstract Point imaging by a photonic crystal slab due to the negative refraction is studied by the finite-difference time-domain scheme. With proper surface termination of a photonic crystal (PC) slab, multi-reflection and refraction will occur in the imaging system, which results in multi-images. The result further verifies that the PC can act as a negative refraction material.
