Abstract We present an effective technique for mixed potential integral equation formulations in multilayered media. In terms of the dipole source method, the formulations of Green functions in spectral domain are restructured concisely, a proper integration path is chosen to straightforwardly apply the two-level discrete complex image method and the high order Sommerfeld identities yield very accurate results of Green functions in the spatial domain for general electric and magnetic sources in three-dimensional multilayered media. Finally, it is used to design a realistic low temperature co-fired ceramic aperture coupled antenna with vertical via-holes connected at the Ka band.
