Abstract Based on the relaxation equations describing the chemical quilibration of gluons, quarks and s quarks at finite baryon ensity derived from the Jüttner distribution of partons, with the help of a rapid phase transition scenario from quark hase to hadron phase, we calculate strangeness production in the quark phase and hadron phase. It is found that the K-/π- ratio is enhanced to be larger than that in pp collisions by about a factor 3.
