Abstract Coherent structures in the CT-6B Tokamak plasma turbulence are detected by using conditional averaging. The results show that the coherent structures are short-lived and do not propagate in the radial direction. The biorthogonal decomposition technique is adopted to analyse further the coherent structure in the turbulence. The time evolution and spatial distribution of the coherent structure are obtained.
