Abstract A new effect, spin-polarized magnetovoltage (MV) effect, is observed in an 81NiFe/A12O3/Fe junctions with cross-strip-electrode configuration. When one ferromagnetic electrode carries current, a voltage can be found between the ends of the other ferromagnetic electrode, and it varies with the magnetization process of the two ferromagnetic electrodes. The MV ratio, which is much larger than the magnetoresistance ratio for the same junction, has reached 53% at room temperature.
