Covering Rules and Nearest Neighbour Configurations of the Dodecagonal Quasiperiodic Structure

Abstract A dodecagonal quasiperiodic structure can be generated by cluster covering and the quasilattice is described in terms of the quasi-unit cell. We study the structural properties of the two-dimensional dodecagonal quasilattice in the covering scheme. The pair covering rules and the nearest neighbour configurations are determined. It is shown that the dodecagonal structure is more complicated than those of decagonal and octagonal quasilattices.
