Abstract The present study deals with Bianchi type-IX string cosmological models for perfect fluid distribution. We consider two cases: (i) ρ+λ =0, (ii) ρ-λ =0, whereρ and λ are the rest energy density and the tension density of a string cloud, respectively. The physical and geometrical properties of the models are discussed.
