Abstract A new and simple model is developed to describe charge transfer, excitation and elastic process in low energy ion-atom collision in which the resonant transfer is considered as the dominant mechanism. The formulas are given in the secondary quantum representation. The cross sections of electron capture, excitation and elastic process in proton-hydrogen atom collision have been calculated and compared with experiment data.
