A NEW METHOD TO MEASURE THE ADSORBATE COVERAGE: TIME-DEVELOPED ION SCATTERING SPECTROSCOPY (TDISS)

  • TDISS has been applied in investigating the change an coverage with time of exposure of several gases adsorbed on Rh(111) at room temperature. When the energy of the incident He+ ions is of 100eV range, the disturbance of incoming ions is depressed to a negligible level. Satisfactory adsorption isotherms can be easily measured for all gases other than hydrogen.
