DIFFERENCE-EQUATION APPROACH IN EVALUATING ATOMIC CORRELATION FUNCTIONS OF STEPPED SURFACES
-
Abstract
The difference-equation approach is applied to evaluate the atomic pair correlation function analytically and exactly for a three-level system with steps distributed randomly on the surface. A simple closed-form solution is obtained for the angular distribution of the intensity diffracted from this surface.
