The Pb-doped Bi-based amorphous solid has been prepared by the anvil quenching method from the melt. After annealing, we obtained the dense superconductor with onset and zero resistance temperature at 120K and 107K, respectively. X-ray powder diffraction ( XRD ) and selected area electron diffract ion ( SAED ) analysis show that there is mainly high Tc phase (2223 phase) in the sample, and scanning electron microscopy ( SEM ) observation of the surface of the sample reveals that the needle-like grain abound in sample. Energy dispersive analysis of X-ray ( EDAX ) indicates that the average composition of grains is Bi2Pb0.3Sr1.3Ca1.7 Cu2.3 Oδ

POSSIBLE HIGH A1 SUBSTITUTION IN THE T1-Ba-Ca-Cu-O SUPERCONDUCTING SYSTEM

The A1 substitution in the T1-Ba-Ca-Cu-O superconducting system was studied. Up to 70% of Tl can be substituted by Al, without significant reduction of Tc. X-ray diffraction indicates partial A1 substitution does not alter the crystal structure of the 2223 phase. Excessive A1 formed Al-Cu alloy and unidentified phases, which gradually destroyed the superconductivity.
