GUO Boling, PAN Xiude*
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 241-244 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (49KB) ( 538 )
In this note, the explicit form of the N soliton solutions for a class of the system of LS nonlinear wave interaction have been obtained by using Hirota's method.
GROWTH STEPS ON Pt(110)
LI Zongquan, SHEN Hui, QIN Yong
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 245-247 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (53KB) ( 456 )
The observation of growth steps on Pt(110) was carried out by means of reflection electron microscopy. The huge terraces on Pt(110) have a zigzag shape, showing that the risers of those steps are composed of (111) and (111) facets. The characteristics of growth steps on Pt(ll1) are also presented.
WORMHOLE AND THE DIMENSIONALITY OF SPACETIME IN EINSTEIN-GAUGE THEORIES
LI Xinzhou, ZHONG Yu*
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 248-251 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (54KB) ( 483 )
The wormhole effect is discussed in the d-dimensional Einstein- Yang-Mills theory. We show that the peak of the probability function leads to the explanation of the spontaneous compactification down to a four-dimensional spacetime and vanishing four-dimensional cosmological constant, i.e., the observable spacetime must be four-dimensional and flat.
DETERMINATION OF THE MASS OF THE 1-- VECTOR GLUEBALL FROM QUANTUM CHROMODYNAMICS SUM RULE
LIU Jueping, LIU Dunhuan
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 252-255 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (52KB) ( 369 )
We analyse the influence of continuum corrections over the quantum chromodynamics sum rule for the 1-- three-gluon conserved current. The mass of the 1-- vector glueball is determined to be 2.4GeV. It should be noted that this mass value does not sensitively depend on the choice of the combination of the two independent currents.
SU(2) x SU(2) QUASI-SPIN MODEL AND CONSTRAINED HARTREE-FOCK METHOD
LIAO Jizhi
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 256-259 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (51KB) ( 550 )
In order to study the effectivity for the constrained Hartree-Fock (CHF) method, a quasi-spin model containing two kinds of interaction is proposed. The exact solution of the model Hamiltonian in SU(2)xSU(2) basis, the HF and some CHF solutions as well as the ground state phase transition are discussed.

NEW TECHNIQUE FOR DETERMINATION OF THE TEMPORAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PICOSECOND LASER PULSES
CHEN Daoyang, GEN Jihong, LI Yufen
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 260-263 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (50KB) ( 662 )
A new method based on the third-order correlation function of coherent Raman scattering has been suggested for the picosecond laser pulses. It has been shown theoretically and experimentally that when coherent Stokes and antistokes Raman scattering are measured at the same time, the temporal characteristics of two different ps laser pulses can be obtained simultaneously.
TIME-RESOLVED DETECTION OF ATOMIC CHLORINE BY COHERENT ANTI-STOKES RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY
WANG Lixin, KANG Jin, HUANG Nantang, XU Jiren
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 264-267 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (53KB) ( 549 )
Coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy is used for time-resolved detection of chlorine atoms produced by photodissociation of chlorine molecules. The rate constants of elementary reaction Cl+Cl+C12=2C12 are determined.

LIN Shujie, CHEN Chuangtian
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 268-271 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (49KB) ( 551 )
The microscopic and macroscopic second-order optical susceptibilities of ten benzene derivative molecules and three crystals were calculated and discussed, basing on the nonlinear optical active group theory.

GROWTH AND TWO-WAVE COUPLING PROPERTIES OF POTASSIUM SODIUM STRONTIUM BARIUM NIOBATE WITH A-SITES NOT FULLY-OCCUPIED
JIANG Quanzhong, CHEN Huanchu, SONG Yongyuan, SUN Daliang
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 272-275 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (53KB) ( 586 )
This paper reports the growth and two-wave coupling properties of (K0.5-Na0.5)2z( Sr0.75Ba0.25)1-zNb2O6( z = 0.1, 0.05 and 0.03) crystals. Comparing to the others, the crystal at z=0.05 has shorter response time and larger two-wave coupling gain coefficient. The gain coefficient of it surpasses that of SBN:Ce.
PHOTOIONIZATION AND TUNABLE LASER OF COLOR CENTERS IN KMgF3
GU Hongen, QI Lan*, RUAN Yongfeng
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 276-279 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (51KB) ( 596 )
The density of 570nm centers in KMgF3 crystals colored by electron beam bombardment at 200K could be increased by irradiating the crystals with 337nm, 400nm, and 445nm lasers at room temperature or 200K, respectively. The near infrared laser operation using 570nm centers in KMgF3 crystals was realized at room temperature. The tunable range of the laser is from 720nm to 820nm.
LINDEMANN COEFFICIENT OF THE TWO-DIMENSIONAL COLLINS MODEL SYSTEM HAVING LENNARDJONES POTENTIAL
CHEN Lirong, CHEN Qinghu
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 280-283 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (63KB) ( 384 )
We introduced the Lennard-Jones potential into the two-dimensional Collins model system. The additional potential energy has been derived for two-dimensional solid. According to the classical statistics, the Lindemann coefficient δc of this system is calculated along the melting line. The calculated results shows that the value of δc approximates to 0.08, which is in agreement with one of the rare gas solids in the order of magnitude.

CHENG Wenqin, HUANG Yi, ZHOU Junming, FENG Wei, WANG Hezhou, SHE Weilong, HUANG Xuguang, LIN Weizhu, YU Zhenxin, XU Geng
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1990, 7 (6): 284-287 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (60KB) ( 420 )
The interaction of the electrons with the phonons in GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells, quantum well wires, and quantum well boxes has been studied by meansuring their time resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectra. In the quantum well (Q W) system, relaxation time of the electron energy of the narrower well is shorter than that of the wider well. It is attributed to the stronger interaction of the electrons with the interface mode phonons. In the Q W wires and Q W boxes, the shortening of the relaxation time is obvious. It is due to the stronger electron-phonon interaction caused by the reduction of screening effect. Our experiments also demonstrated the incident laser intensity dependence of the relaxation time.
