Dynamic Verification of Newton’s Law and the Principal Limits in Measuring Intermediate-Range Forces
Kolosnitsyn N. I., LUO Jun, Melnikov V. N.
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 607-610 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (207KB) ( 753 )
According to the controversial results of recent experiments for fifth force, we present a classification of all possible types of theories leading to non-Newtonian forces. The theoretical analysis shows that if the interaction potential differs from the Newton's law the interactions of macro- and micro-bodies are in general distinguishable. The calculation also shows that Long's result can be improved by several orders if the new method proposed is used.
Quasiparticle Effects in Quasielastic Electron Scattering
MA Zhongyu, FENG Dachun
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 611-614 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (188KB) ( 456 )
The quasiparticle effect on the nuclear response in the quasielastic electron scattering is studied in a phenomenological quasiparticle model. The quasiparticle Hamiltonian which includes correlations has been introduced through a parameterization of the effective mass m* (r)/m. It is found that the quasiparticle effective mass plays an important role on the nuclear response functions. Though this model could give better agreement with experiments, the discrepancy in the longitudinal response remains to be eliminated.

Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 618-621 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (160KB) ( 909 )
Amplification of spontaneous emissions at 19.6, 23.2 and 23.6nm have been observed by a “Multiple-Target Series Coupling” design in Ge plasma. The combined length for four targets is up to 56mm. The gain length product(GL) of small signal is up to 18 for both lines at 23.2 and 23.6nm, and the effective GL is 16.4 and 15.7 fox these two lines respectively. This two lines are obviously tending to saturation. The divergence of x-ray laser beam is about 4 mrad.

Abstract   PDF(pc) (171KB) ( 684 )
We have developed a Nd: YAP single crystal fiber laser with linearly polarized Light output at 1.0795μm. The laser is 100μm in diameter and operated with a threshold of 6.65mW. The slope efficiency is 12.9%.
A Simple and Effective Method Measuring Thermooptic Coefficient of Materials
TIAN Jianguo, ZHANG Chunping, ZHANG Guangyin
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 625-628 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (188KB) ( 622 )
A new method derived from the Z-scan by M. Sheik-bahae et al. was employed to measure the thermooptic coefficient of materials effectively. A simple rule to determine the sign and magnitude of thermooptic coefficient and laser beam waist radius was obtained.
New Parameter Region for Non-propagating Solitary Waves
ZHOU Xianchu, CUI Hongnong
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 629-632 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (156KB) ( 573 )
With the consideration of surface tension, two parameter regions for non-propagating solitary waves have been found by theory and have been confirmed by experiments. The parameters mentioned up to now in all experimental and theoretical articles are all in region (1). Region (2) is never reported before.
Plasma Pressure Profile in Ring Current Region
XU Baiyu, CAI Shidong (Shih-tung Tsai)*, XU Minjian
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 633-636 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (217KB) ( 434 )
The equilibrium equation in the field line coordinate system is derived in the ring current region where the Tsyganenko and Usmanov (TU) model of magnetic field is adopted. A generalized Euler difference method for solving two-dimensional equilibrium equations is developed. The numerical result show that a nearly isotropic plasma pressure profile exists in the ring current region. On the equator, with increasing L, the plasma pressure attend to more isotropic. Most of the results are in good agreement with observations.
Computer Model Simulation for Structures of Metallic Nanocrystalline Materials
WANG Dazhi, ZHANG Haifeng, SONG Li, ZHENG Zhaobo
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 637-640 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (241KB) ( 448 )
A computer simulation model is presented for structures of nanocrystalline materials in two dimensions. By adjusting the controllable variables in the model, structural simulation results which exhibited some correspondence to the experimental results were obtained. The physical meanings of these controllable variables are discussed in detail.
Impurity-Induced Interchain Coupling in [Pt (en)2] [Pt (en)2X2] (ClO4)4
PENG Jingcui
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 641-644 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (182KB) ( 556 )
The effect of impurity-induced interchain coupling on polaron in halogen-bridged mixed-valence platinum complaxes (HMPCs) [Pt (en)2X2] (ClO4)4 are studied by means of the Takayama, Lin-liu and Maki continuum model. The Green's function is used to calculate the change of polaronic binding energy due to existing impurity. The results were supported by halogen doping experiment in HMPC’s.
Freezing of Soliton State Between Tcc and Thc in K2ZnC14
ZHANG Guangyin, ZHANG Cunzhou, YU ping*
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 645-647 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (149KB) ( 445 )
The hysteresis effect of commensurate-incommensurate transition has been investigated with the measurement of dielectric constant. The freezing of the soliton state in the hysteresis region was observed. The freezing may be kept for a very long time because of the pinning of impurities.

Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 648-651 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (155KB) ( 458 )
The dynamical properties of a class of Sl+l=Sl-lSnl Fibonacci sequences are discussed following K. K. T. method. The recursion relations for the dynamical maps are derived. Linearization about their fixed points yields the Jacobian matrix of the mapping and the eigenvalues for the fixed points.

TANG Jingchang, FU songbao*
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1991, 8 (12): 652-654 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (164KB) ( 595 )
The carbon K-edge near edge x-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectra of formate adsorbed on the Cu(110) surface have been calculated by multiple scattering cluster method, the result shows that the H-C resonance exists in the carbon K-edge NEXAFS spectra, this is the major difference between the carbon and oxygen K-edge NEXAFS spectra of HCOO-Cu(110) system.
