Abstract We report on 160Gbit/s RZ (return-to-zero) code transmission experiments including a dynamic polarization mode dispersion (PMD) compensation. The 2.5-ps first-order and 15-ps2 second-order PMD are compensated for. The PMD compensation time is within 24ms. The experimental results show that a significant improvement of system performance can be achieved by auto-correlative curves.
