Abstract Starting from the physical features of materials, heterogeneous anisotropic composites (HACs) are analysed on the basis of the understanding and applications of its equivalent anti-symmetry performance. Moreover, the design parameter is optimized to attain the goal of maximizing the use of materials, which is quite meaningful. The HAC structure is defined as a kind of equivalent structures according to the structure and properties of materials. We apply the mature plate theory and the composite materials laminate theory in analysis of the HAC structure, and in this way a new concept and a new idea are expected.
