Abstract:Tomographic particle image velocimetry (TPIV) and static pressure measurements are performed in a wind tunnel on a scaled model of the rotor blade of a 5 kW horizontal-axis wind turbine designed by using the blade element momentum method. This study is to investigate the physics of the stall-delay phenomenon observed for a rotating blade. The TPIV experiments are conducted at several span-wise locations of the blade. The separated flow from the rotating blade is studied and compared with the case of the static stall at similar angles of attack and Reynolds number Re.
