Abstract : The phenomena of bifurcation have been observed in experiments on one-dimensional finite-amplitude standing wave. Besides higher harmonics predicted by the theory, subharmonics fractional also appear in the finite-amplitude standing wave field, as the sound pressuregets higher, and eventually a chaotic state is reached.
