Abstract: Photoacoustic signals generated by nonradiative processes of photo-initiated chemical reactions in solutions have been detected by a laser heterodyne interferometer with high sensitivity and wide band. This technique can accurately carry out the time-resolved measurement of transient processes in nanosecond scale. The experimental results and theoretical calculations for probing some fast chemical reactions are described.
