Abstract : Exact results for the two vertically coupled two-dimensional single electron quantum dots are obtained as a function of magnetic field. The ground-state transition is investigated and the effect of the distance between a double-layer dot on the Coulomb interaction is studied. Our results show that when the inter-dot distance increases, a higher magnetic field is needed to induce ground-state transitions and that for sufficiently large distance no transitions occur. Hence, the short-ranged component of Coulomb interaction is important whether the ground-state transition appears in double-layer quantum dots.
