Abstract: The wavefunctions are decomposed into components. The inherent nodal structure and the stability of these components are investigated. It is assumed that the low-lying states wound be dominated by the components without inherent nodal surfaces. Based on this assumption, the composition of the wave functions of the low-lying states of 5He has been suggested and the qualitative feature of the spectrum has been explained.
