Abstract We demonstrate a 1030-nm laser with end-pumped slab Yb:YAG geometry at room temperature. A maximum power of 86 W output at the pump power of 323 W is obtained. The optical-optical efficiency is about 26.6% and the slope efficiency is 31%.
