Abstract By combining the four-fermion interaction theory and the linear σ-ω model, we propose an approach to describe the density dependence of the β-decay width (the half-life time of the decay) in infinite and charge-neutral nuclear matter. We find that the half-life time of the β-decay decreases rapidly with the increase of the nuclear matter density.
