Abstract Using a Monte Carlo quadrature, we calculate by a variational method the binding energy Eb of wannier excitons in N-periods m-CdMnTe/n-CdTe superlattices, including or not including the step discontinuity in the potential barrier at the interface, and with varying N as well as well-width. The calculation is performed in the framework of the effective mass approximation for both heavy-hole and light-hole excitons. The degree of excitonique localisation dependence on those parameters is accurately illustrated.
