Disruption of Charged Dust Grains in Cometary Plasma Environments

Abstract The equilibrium potential and dust fragmentation criterion of fluffy dust grains in plasma are calculated for comet P/Halley. It is found that the dust grain acquires its largest negative potential and disruptive probability about 50000km from the comet where the dust mass spectrum measured by the spacecraft took a great change.
