Abstract The mutual neutralization cross sections of Na+/O- ions at low energy have been calculated by using the multichannel Landau-Zener theory. An asymptotic method is used for estimating the coupling matrix elements between the ionic and covalent states at the crossing points of diabatic potential curves. The results of calculation are compared with available experimental data.
