Abstract The double peak structure of Ols in photoemission spectra of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconductor is studied by XPS, and compared with that of SrCO3. The result indicates that the double peak structure of Ols, spectra is closely related with the Sr3d and Cls, spectra, and arises primarily from the SrCO3-like complex caused by the contamination of CO2 in air.
