TOP QUARK MASS AND THE FOURTH GENERATION OF QUARK
CHOU Kuang-chao, WU Yue-liang, XIE Yan-bo
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 47-48 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (22KB) ( 400 )
To explain CP violation in Kaon system in the light of the recently measured b - lifetime within the framework of three generations of quarks, the top quark mass has to be greater than 50GeV if the current algebra value of the factor BK is adopted and | ε’/ε|< 0.01. In this letter a fourth generation of quark is considered which can fit the present experimental data on CP violation, and KL→ μ + μ- decay rate for top quark mass is around 40GeV. The mass of the new charge 2/3 quark is predicted to be over 100Gev.

THE ONE-DIMENSIONAL PHYSICS OF α-LiIO3
LI Yin-yuan(Y.Y.Li)
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 49-52 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (45KB) ( 590 )
In order to draw the attention of international audience, this author writes up with new clarifications and in an integrated language the one-dimensional physics of α-LiIO3. The Id accumulations of space charges along their passageways of the quasi Id ionic flow in the c-direction give rise to the novel phenomena observed in the single crystal specimens under the action of a dc voltage.

AN EXPERIMENTAL METHOD OF MEASURING THE CRYSTALLIZATION FRONT TEMPERATURE
JIN Wei-qing, Hiroshi KOMATSU*
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 53-56 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (54KB) ( 522 )
By measuring the temperature of the crystallization front of salol by means of in situ observations on a thermally regulating stage, we have obtained the linear form of (TS/L-TM.B),i.e., the difference between the temperatures of the front and the melt block vs v, the solidified volume of the interface per second.
EFFECT OF Na-Na SPIN-EXCHANGE COLLISIONS ON SPIN RELAXATION OF OPTICALLY PUMPED Na IN Xe GAS
HOU Mei-ying, CHENG Bing-ying, and JU Rui
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 57-60 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (52KB) ( 1634 )
We report the first detection of the effect of Na-Na spin exchange collisions on spin relaxation of optically pumped Na in Xe gas by studying the relaxation in the 'dark" of the variable < SZ > in a mixture of dense sodium vapor (number density [Na]~1013 cm-3) , and buffer gas helium, xenon and nitrogen as a function of [Na] and xenon pressure.

BIFURCATION IN AIR ACOUSTIC SYSTEMS
ZONG You-tai WEI Rong-jue
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 61-64 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (121KB) ( 393 )
In this paper we report the observation and measurement of period-doubling bifurcation in two air acoustic systems, one from the direct radiation of the high power loudspeaker, and the other from the coupling with small cavities situated at its throat.
THERMAL QUENCHING, INFRARED QUENCHING AND SUPRALINEARITY IN a-Si:H
HAN Da-xing
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 65-68 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (48KB) ( 501 )
We have tested the temperature and incident flux dependence of photoconductivity and dual beam infrared photoconductivity spectra of a-Si:H samples in annealed states A* and A, and the light soaked states B1 and B2; and observed that they were different for the 4 different states. We believe that light exposures create two kinds of centers, which we name α and τ. A model is suggested to explain the experimental results.
HIGH RESOLUTION LASER SPECTROSCOPY STUDY OF THE l(2, -1) TYPE RESONANCE IN CH3Fv5 BAND
ZHAO Yao, SHEN Zhiye, ZHU Qing-shi and ZHANG Cun-hao
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 69-72 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (42KB) ( 555 )
The high resolution laser spectroscopy study on the l(2, -1) type Coriolis resonance in CH3Fv5 RQO and pp3 was carried out. An improved value of E5 is obtained, E5=2.3892(9) x10-3cm-1.

EXTENDED RATIO METHOD AND ITS APPLICATION TO SOME LATTICE MODELS
LI Tie-cheng and ZHOU Zhi-chong
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 73-76 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (40KB) ( 480 )
An extended ratio method is applied to some lattice models. We find the following interesting features: the extended method often appears to be smoother and better; the odd-even oscillations are reduced greatly; and the Neville tables often provide sequences with faster convergence rate.
ULTRASONIC PROPAGATIONS IN COMPOSITIONAL MODULATED STRUCTURES(CMS)
ZOU Nan-zhi and GONG Chang-de
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 77-80 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (56KB) ( 489 )
The dynamic equation of acoustic vibration in CMS can be obtained by means of the mean field approximation. Sound propagation features in CMS are discussed, while the corresponding dispersion law, forbidden bands of the sound waves also determined.
ON THE FEASIBILITY OF DETERMINING ELECTRON-NEUTRINO MASS FROM THE STUDY OF ELECTRON CAPTURE RATES IN 157Tb
CHING Cheng-rui, HO Tso-hsiu, LIU Jia-lin
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 81-84 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (48KB) ( 419 )
A comparison between the electron captures of 158Tb and 157Tb is presented. The practical merit of using 157Tb electron capture rates as a tool for electron-neutrino mass determination is analysed and emphasized.

PERIODIC AND CHAOTIC BEHAVIORS IN OPTICAL BISTABILITY
CHEN Li-xue, LI chun-fei and HONG Jing
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 85-88 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (79KB) ( 537 )
The periodic and chaotic behaviors for both long and short delay time are demonstrated successfully using a hybrid OBD. The degree of stability S is introduced into the dynamic equations of optical bistability with a delayed feedback. The instability threshold is S=2 for long delay time and S=l+π/2Q for short delay time.
INFLUENCE OF THE ALAS POTENTIAL CN TEE (α, P) REACTIONS
BAO Xiu-min, LI Shu-ming, WANG Yuan-da, YUAN Rong-fang, HUANG Bing-yin and SUN Tsu-hsun
Chin. Phys. Lett. 1984, 1 (2): 89-91 .
Abstract   PDF(pc) (43KB) ( 471 )
Different α-nucleus potentials for the anomalous large angle scattering have been tested by the 40Ca (α, P ) reaction. It seems that the WS ( squared Woods-Saxon ) , WS2.65 and WS5 potential can not provide a correct description of the behaviour of the incident α channel wave functions, but with the L-dependent potential a reasonable result can be obtained.
