HIGH-ORDER QUANTUM BERRY’S ADIABATIC PHASE AND ITS OBSERVABLE EFFECT

New high-order adiabatic approximate method is proposed for the study of non-adiabatic evolution of a quantum system with slowly-changing Hamiltonian. The corresponding high-order Berry’s adiabatic phases are used to describe the transition from a state to another, and their observable effects in quantum interference experiment are pointed out.

A relatively simple and inexpensive inverse photoemission spectrometer (IPS) with high resolution and high efficiency has been set up. Using this IPS, the inverse photoemission spectrum of Si(100)2x1 surface has been obtained. The resolution of the spectrum is better than 0.5eV at 9.8eV photon energy with a counting rate about 103/.μA-S .sr.

Hadamard mask is utilized as a spatial modulator on Fourier transform spectrometry to provide both spatial and spectral information about the sample. As a result, signal-to- noise ratio is improved and the power density at the sample is reduced.

It is shown that the local counterterms which simultaneously restore local Lorentz and gauge invariance of the σ-model do not satisfy the criteria of (2, 0) supersymmetry. But local counterterms and the non-local part of one-loop effective action together are invariant under the (2, 0) supersymmetry transformation.

The average binding energy of the dineutron virtual state was derived from the correlative spectrum of two protons in 2H(d, 2p)2n reaction, and from the p-p coincidence measurement the value is estimated to be about 210keV.

A semiclassical dynamical simulation for medium and highenergy heavy ion collisions is presented and used to discuss in detail the features of evolution for 12C(25Ge V; b = 0.0fm ) +63 Cu reaction. From the calculated results it is shown that the model proposed can give a reasonable picture of the compression, expansion and fragmentation processes of the system in heavy ion reaction.
AN INVESTIGATION OF THE Jπ=l+; T=l STATES IN 40Ca WITH THE (p,γ) REACTION

In order to explore the Jπ=l+;T=l states in 40Ca between 11.0 and 12.0MeVJ which have been predicted recently, the measurements of the 39K(p,γ)40Ca reaction have been taken. Nine resonances appeared in the region Ep=2.7-3.8MeVJ and six of them corresponding to Ep =2749, 3085, 3135, 3202, 3417 and 3708ke were observed for the first time with the (p,γ) reaction. The spin, parity and isospin of the 11.083MeV state in 40Ca are determined to be Jπ=l+; T=l . The M1 transition strength B(M1) of this state from the ground state is 0.24μ20;. The result is qualitatively in agreement with the the oretical prediction.

Non-resonant multiphoton ionization of atomic lead at 1064nm laser field has been studied. Both the angular distribution and the intensity dependence of photoelectrons have been measured. The results show that they are very sensitive to the process of multiphoton ionization.

A space-time resolution measurement of plasma parameters in the edge region of CT-6B tokamak has been performed using Langmuir probes. The diffusion in the region is of an order of the Bohm diffusion. The propagation time of MHD perturbation in the interior plasma to the edge region is about 0.5ms.

XPS study was carried out on Cu/SiO2 interface following the irradiation of 6.0MeV Si ion beam. The chemical shift in the copper spectra reveals for the first time the existence of a chemically bonded structure in the interface region resulting from ion irradiation.

A brief gas puffing method has been used to determine the amount of adsorbed gas on the surface of a vacuum system when the pressure in the system is changed. The adsorbed gas is found to correspond to one monomolecular layer in this experiment.

A cosmological constant has been derived from compactification of chiral closed-string. The (3+l)-dimensional space-time D4 has de-Sitter or anti-de-Sitter geometry. The compact space M5 is a Einstein manifold or a hyperbolic manifold. Some properties about tachyon and massless ghost have been discussed.
